My Inquiry Question:
Will having a Structured Literacy focus in Instructional Reading , handwrtitng and Writing time help assist our learners with high learning needs show growth in attitiude, engagment, and data results.

New Planning-
Mixing YS, Sunshine and Helen Walls.This covers my WHOLE term of planning. A massive undertaking but hopefully in the long run creates a more effective way of reflecting and working through the weekly expectations
Reading:
As per previous post it was importatnt to me to have my planning very structured and organised so it all matched the levels of learning that I had place children (using OTJ in first few weeks).
Using my new learning from Emma Nahnana I created a bookmark for my learners for books and eventually Ipads to show the consise process of learning.
Now it was moving forward - gaining assessment. By refelcting on 2022, resrching , talking to RtLit I have used LLLL to create a Reading Record Document to start the year with SL . However, after researching into the provider (Sunshine) they have invested time and devlopement into screening tests, phoincs assessment, ARA and comprehenion.
Screening Tests – quickly screen students to place them at the correct stage of the Sunshine Decodables series.
Phonics Assessment – comprehensive tests to assess students’ understanding of new phonemes and graphemes, ability to segment and blend decodable words and to read tricky words.
Assessment of Reading Accuracy – unseen texts to assess students’ reading accuracy.
Comprehension Assessment – questions on the unseen texts.
As part of my Inquiry I am really happy to use these tools A: to save time B:be able to trail new things for our school and maybe provide some more options for teachers in the future.
My results are as follows
It was quite ...astounding..refreshing ....Im not sure what to make from these results. It diffenatly means I was on the right path though with knowing our learners enough to take a risk in setting up a class room programme more tailored for them.
With Meryns help we are flying through our challenges and strugges with the Ipads. Things have been smoothed out and I am now creating projects and tasks for the tamariki to do that shows there learning. Slide decks are my focus in Term 1- that real celebration of work - to engage our parents.
I have shared these with my other team memeber and I hope we can cointue this shared collabrative plan. Reporting will be done using this tecnique and I have created Slide decks below that use our new writing programmes Stages (again these have been shared with my team member and she can edit as suits her) I want the children to write an self assessment of their journey in all areas.
Reading Reporting Ideas-
All this leads to our New Digital Reporting for Term 2 and 4 (along with Goal ticking)...something I have been working on...
Term 2 I want to restart my Reading comprehnsion activites online.This will be focusing on the Sunshine Decoaables S and S, alongside comprehsion activities.
For fluencey and enagement I have started recording Set 2 of S.D available on the website and will try and make more as I have the time.
Sunshine online does have alot of activites online for create tasks however not specific to SD soo... this could also be my focus.
Writing- New Programme
A complete different review and way of writing. Again changes in grouping and assessing aswell as delivery. Children have been grouped at the end of the the term.
