Implementing Ideas Term 2
My Inquiry Question:
Will having a Strucutred Literacy focus in Instructional Reading , handwrtitng and Writing time help assist our learners with high learning needs show growth in attitiude, engagment, and data results.
The holidays allow me to retink and fine tune any workings...I spent alot of time relooking at my afternoon sessions and have developed some new ideas for my learners.I wanted that busy brain kinestic artistic vibe that work well with our high needs students with humour and catcy phrases that can draw in extension students...So Casey wins! Here are some picutres from our first Casey lesson...straight lines and butterfly eggs. This was very interstesting to watch as many students couldnt draw a straight line nor keep consitency with egg sizes. As a practioner it cements the fact of those early fine motor skills needed in ece and NE levels as well as the affect of neurological disorders affecting connections.
With my new digital skills I was able to mesh some ideas together to make rewindable learning whihc I always enjoy doing! With having ipads I can upload these types of documents (I think/ hope!)to EE and the children can then have an editable slide for their mahi. I dont want to take away book with HW BUT we only have two HW books so I think accessing the reusable nature of the Ipads will work well here for cost and environmental factors.
I undertook Spelling webinars also and made sure that the groupings I had in place married up to the SL Sunshine decodables. I created new planning templates for my students and this will allow for quick formative and summative assesment. There are some gaps from this programme and Sunshine so it will take a while to reform those but I think the I can use the words and lesson format from here and the picture cues from YS during the Reading lessons??
Here are some pictures of the children using them in their books.
I look forward to trialing them over the next few weeks and I also am wondering about using them on
Ipads again for environmental and cost factors.
